You. GUYS! We’re still recovering from Eat Drink Vegan, are you? Yeah, we ate a lot and drank a lot, but it was insanely hot out. Like, really hot. Hot as balls to be exact. We spent the whole next day recovering from the heat (or maybe it was all that beer, or food, hmmm…) Luckily, on the day of the event we dressed for success. We knew our outfits would need to be three things; light, breezy and roomy. Light and breezy to combat the heat (obvi) and roomy to allow for all day comfort as we ate and ate and ate. There’s nothing worse than being uncomfortable when you’re trying to get your binge eat on, are we right?
Speaking of balls…apparently it’s pretty easy for them to get stuck together when wearing pom-pom shorts.
Alright alright alright….moving on to the most important stuff: the food.
First up: The Thrillist Burger from Garden Grill. Fried chicken, cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiched between a donut bun. DONUT BUN! This was the best thing we ate last year and we couldn’t wait to try it again to see if it still held up. It did, see: donut bun.
Confession time. We have no idea what beer we drank. Couldn’t tell you what this is or if we liked it.
Southern Belle Dilla from Organix LA. Super tasty, but it was HUGE. We had a difficult time finishing it between four people. (PS we aren’t wimps, we had just finished two and half Thrillist burgers before we took this beast on) Fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy all stuffed in a quesadilla.
Salted carmel and peanut butter scoops in a gluten free waffle cone from Yoga-Urt. A little icy, but still really good.
Mac & Cheese Waffle (w/ a side of ranch) from Clara Cakes. Never disappoints!
Miniature donuts from Donut Friend. We think Donut Friend has some of the best vegan donuts in LA, but unfortunately the minis just didn’t deliver this time.
Buffalo Cauliflower from Mohawk Bend. Best buffalo cauliflower out there.
Shugah Mama Ice Cream Sandwich. By far our favorite dessert. We got two of the ice cream sandwiches and two cookies. Brandi’s (non-vegan) boyfriend liked the cookies so much he wants to bulk order. Now that’s a winning endorsement.
Eat Drink Vegan is always a blast, and it just gets bigger and better every year. Thanks to all the organizers, vendors, and volunteers for working their asses off in the blistering heat! See you next year!
